Great Travel Tips for Panama
Submitted by Anonymous on 2008-10-28 04:58:42 (via www.omnivoroustraveler.com)
Small and amazingly diverse, Panama makes it possible for a traveler to visit not only two different oceans in one day, but be able to combine in less than a week a diversified natural experience.

This is my opinion and these are my preferences… But you will be amazed in my beautiful country.
Panama is the best place to visit in Latin America right now. It’s very modern and chic. Our currency is the US Dollar so you won’t have any problem when paying. We have many things to do and it depends on what would you like to do.
Beaches?
1. Go to Decameron Resort which is an all inclusive hotel. http://www.decameron.com/Eng/panama/royal/overview.html

2. Go to Playa Blanca Resort, all inclusive but more exclusive. http://www.playablancaresort.com/en/home

3. AT Contadora Island you can find hotels as well. This is a nice and gougeous place. http://www.isla-contadora.com/indexesp.html; http://www.contadorapanama.com/

Surfing?
1. Please visit Playa Venao… it is far away but it’s worth it. http://www.pvpanama.com/index.php

2. Or Cambutal…http://www.wannasurf.com/spot/Central_America/Panama/cambutal/index.html

Not so far???
Go to Playa Bonita Hotel. A hotel with a beach at 15 mins from the city. http://www.playabonitapanama.com/

Mountains?
1. Go to El Valle de Anton… beautiful and peaceful place with a nice weather and no rain in Jan, Feb. & March. http://www.panamainfo.com/en/destinations/el-valle-de-ant-n

2. You can visit Boquete, 8 hours from the Panama City. http://www.panamainfo.com/en/destinations/boquete

Shopping?
In Panama City you can go to:
1. Multiplaza Pacific (Very Expensive)
2. Multicentro (Medium-Low Expensive)
3. Albrook Mall (every budget)
4. Los Pueblos, close to the airport (super good prices…but a lot of people always shopping)
The other places are not safe for tourists.

Churches? Please don’t forget to worship your God.
In English/Spanish Crossroads Church http://www.cbcpanama.org/
In Spanish Hosanna http://www.hosannavision.com/tv/

In general you can visit some sites to be informed about Panama.

Our dry season is from January to April. Rainy the rest of the year…but never hurricanes or earthquakes.

If you have any question, please email me at reinamireya@hotmail.com, I will be more than glad to help you. http://www.tourtravelivsp.com/ivsp_details.aspx?ivspid=1593

Blessings to all… and see you in Panama.

hello,

I'm from Panama, and yes the tips described preety much covers it all.

I have to suggest you to please visit Boquete, it's only 8 hours away from Panamá(going on car, you can also go by airplane in like one hour), it has the coolest weather(and I mean that, not so hot, not so cold, just cool), the ultimate landscape, a river just behind the City Hall, lots of pics to upload to your myspace or facebook account.

The touring industry is highly developed, you'll find many hostels, and hotels with bilingual services. and also mail boxes services which are only found elsewhere in Panama City.

As far as clothing... yeah go by jeans, you can still wear you cammera but try to go with lots of friend and pretend you're hanging out. You'll look like a foreigner, but not a tourist per se...

Great restaurants as well, from Peruvian food, to american of course and many others for you to decide.

BTW: for the $20 bills issue, yes it affects both Panamenians and tourist but, some ATMs tell you the kind of bills provided, some of them do advances from $5 on... I've heard of ATMs that even do coins(but I haven't seen those yet =P).

You can also go to Bocas del Toro and Kuna Yala, both sites have a good touring industry as well.

You're all more than welcome.
