| Lithuania Travel Tips |
| Submitted by Anonymous on 2008-12-08 05:20:04 (via www.hoteltravel.com) |
| The culture of Lithuania has been influenced by geography, historical events, and artistic movements. Various cultural changes occurred throughout Lithuania's transformation from a former country of the Soviet Union to an independent Baltic state.

The most turists go to see Vilnius for its old town, galleries and museums (mentioned above). You may also want to see some sights like Kryziu kalnas (The Mountain of Crosses) near Siauliai, Stelmuzes Azuolas (The Stelmuze Oak)or The Castle of Trakai. Lithuania is also famous for its forests and countries which still are very archaic.
You should also try out Lithuanian beer. And if it is not hard to tell you are foreigner, better don't go to Klaipeda for your own good.
The article is quite good. Nevertheless, I don't think you have to worry about hepatitus if you are going to Lithuania for the sight seeing (and I really hope that's what it is about). Good luck. |

Suggestion: first of all Vilnius - there are lots of things to see - old town, galleries, Contemporary Art Centre, Jonas Mekas Visual Arts Centre; if you get a chance to visit Kaunas you should visit Vytautas the Great War Museum; and if you come to Klaipeda it could be interesting to visit the History Museum of Lithuania Minor and then Curonian Spit. And of course night clubs, bars and pubs. Have fun and enjoy. More info you can gain at http://www.travel.lt/turizmas/index.jsp |

There is many nice places. But did you know that now it's very cold in Lithuania? You should visit it when it's warm. Summer :) |

What I could say about my country Lithuania and hometown Vilnius. Firstly, I can't describe my country as a very cosmopolitan, industrious or entertaining, because it is still influenced by Soviet union. Of course, step by step European culture and traditions effects Lithuania, but we're quite close and not really european. It doesn't sound atractive, but I think that my country is unique because of these features.
Here u can find lots of places to see. We have extraordinary old town which has beed accepted as one of the world's heritage. Also, the nature in Lithuania, especially in smaller cities or suburbs is really natural and it hasn't been effected by pollution. I haven't mentioned other amazing places which u can spend time in. The most striking place to see is our beaches which are located by Baltic see. You would have a wonderful time there. Especially in summer time when the weather is fantastic. And it's just a few locations that could be a reason for you to come!!
To talk about clubs, pubs, bars and restaurants, I could claim that Lithuania has what to show. Especially in a capital city where all the recreational facilities are concentrated.
To sum up, I would like to point out that my country is really warm and causy place! Every person will be initiated with a warm welcome.
Hope to see u here!
Best wishes,
Caroline |

great page :) at first you will come to Vilnius, so there you should visit Vilnius Cathedral, Gediminas Castle, St.Anne's Church and of cours Old Town. Museums. Also Three Cross Hill... there you can see a nice view of city. Night clubs, pubs. Then you should go to Traku Castle, where lived Lithuanian Dukes.
Next biggest city in Lithuania is Kaunas. Here you can visit Kauna's Castle, Old Town, Pazaislio monastery. Also Kauna's bay. The only Botanical garden in Lithuania.
Then you should go to Aukstaitijos National Park, there are lot of beautiful lakes and forests (prefer in summer). Also Klaipeda, See museum. Also Nida, Neringa, Palanga it is tows near Baltic sea. Have a great time in Lithuania ;] |

I read the article and found something to add...firstly, banknotes in 1,2 and 5 Lt are nor longer in use, we use monets instead. Also the majority of close young people use to hug each other and not to kiss. If we talk about disease, well, Lithuania isn't a third country, so i guess no special precocious should be taken. Well, if we talk about visiting, when I agree with opinion above, I could only add that Trakai castle, which is near Vilnius is worth of visiting. In Klaipeda it is also worth to get into 23 floor in the "Klaipeda" hotel, just to enjoy seeing all the city from above. Oh, in Vilnius you should visit Saint Peter and John church and (Sv. Petro ir Povilo baznycia) and Sv. Onos church and also visit Uzupis (part of the old city) and its Angel. Wish you the best memories from Lithuania ;) |

Hi, do not forget to visit Trakai (town) and Trakai Castle:) Lithuania is good to visit in late May and June. Autumn and winter are quite rainy (snowy). Vilnius is going to be the capital of European culture 2009, so I guess there will be plenty of festivals and other events. Unfortunately due to financial crisis the budget will be cut a bit but still should be good. Check this site http://www.culturelive.lt/en/main/ |

Insistently recommend you to visit Nida - the small town near Baltic sea. You will find unique nature there.
Kaunas - the second city in Lithuania. Very nice Laisves avenue and old town.
You can see more about Lithuania in this short clip.

hi:) well there definitely are some great places ! as most of the travelers land in Vilnius i would recommend to spend couple of days here as it's really modern and has a feeling of a European city. Then you should visit Trakai (not far from Vilnius). You must go to Nida because it really is unique, peolpe love it and it's also very different from the rest of the country (talking about nature, architecture). if you go in winter, make sure you take proper clothes because it might snow! and enjoy!! there is one thing for sure, people like foreigners( more than their own nationality people. lol.) so you should find them quite friendly. |
