Latvia is a beautiful country. If you like nature: lakes, forests and sea or wonna to enjoy eco tourism - it's the best choice for your travelling. Surely you can see a special architecture in the main cities - mostly it's jugend (modern) style.

I do not agree with the statement about winter. It used to be cold but now with the Global warming its almost not snowing even...which was a usual phenomena here...now its about 0 centigrades during the winter...so, is it cold???
the rest is more or less true |

When you visit Latvia, you should now that there are many beautiful places you can go, it's even hard to tell them all, some of them are Vecriga, Kurzemes town Talsi wich is on 9 hils(more than Rome:D), Ventspils (the biggest port city in Latvia), Valdemarpils where grows the biggest oak tree In Baltic states. Of course i named these places because myself live close to them, but there are a lot more to see when you visit Latvia. We latvian have differnt traditional food, but it's pretty hard to explain them. |

About weather I can agree! ;)but in summers sometimes there is very hot not only warm, but sometimes - fairly coldish! And winters can be quite mild, but sometimes very, very cold.
I would advice to visit Sigulda- there is castle tower, park, Gūtmaņu cave- very, very beautiful and other things to see! I went there in summer and I liked it all a lot!
And then there is Rundāles castle. It's very big, pompous and beautiful castle! :)
And about Old Riga's architecture- it is amazing! :)Interesting place is Cinevilla
http://www.cinevilla.lv/
And there are many interesting and wonderful places too! :) |

Actually i can pretty much agree with the previous advices, but here are some mine:
*as a true my native town's patriot ;) i advice to check www.cesis.lv - it's wonderful, little bit antique and beautiful in every season :)
*i advice to check www.sigulda.lv - Sigulda is the most beautiful in autumn, but there are really much to see also other seasons (one of the best thing - Aerodium - if you've seen the Olympic Games 2006 closing show, you will know them ;) )
*one interesting and nice place if you want to walk, walk and walk again :p for free-minded persons - www.pedvale.lv
*also place to see is Ligatne - http://www.vidzemescels.lv/object.php?id=9 :)
*our Baltic sea's beach is also really nice in summer
*nice and historical place to see - ĀraiĊĦi - http://www.vidzemesmuzeji.lv/araisi/page/?cat=2
*place to get absolutely fresh-baked bread - http://www.laci.lv/
*great place to rest and have fun - http://www.hotelraksi.lv/ :)
and that's not all.. ;)
well, if i remember more, i'll let you know :) |

it's allmost true when you speak about weather in Latvia, because it's very changeable. it's hard to discribe it in few words.
here is one website that could be usefull: http://www.aboutriga.net
there's different things discribed in english (not only about capital city but in main to) :D |
