Best of Serbian Cuisine
Submitted by Olivia on 2009-01-19 04:57:07 (via www.vegeta.com.au)
Definitely the Turkish cuisine had the most dominant influence on Serbian cuisine. Most of the specialties of Serbian cuisine today are inspired by modified Turkish specialties, whereas the influence of the Austro-Hungarian cuisine is especially felt in Vojvodina.

No, shljivovica doesn't taste like vodka at all, it's very strong, and sometimes has a fruity taste.

No...Nothing taste like shljivovica. One friend of mu from Australia tried shljivovica, and he said that taste is like gasoline, and make you able to fly..:))Of course that was joke, but if you can't drink 5 tekilas without lemon, don't try shljvovica...When you drink shljivovica good one, burn your stomach, but bad one your throat..:))

No, it is different taste. for me is much better. Shljivovica is RAKIJA made from plum, but for me, much better is made from apricot, quince or pear. You must taste that. :-)

With a little mistakes this is serbian cuisine. All people that try it was very pleased.Food can be spicy but it's not a rule and sljivovica does not tase like votka but it is an alcohol drink and it's colored.
Definetly to try:kajmak,ajvar,gibanica,pljeskavica,sarma, podvarak....
