This is good tip for people who come to finland...but here is something more
speed limit on motorway is usually in summer 120 kph...if u travel in north finland...there can be lots of raindeers...but they arent as dangerous as elks...but u still have to be careful...i guess that its quite easy to drive here...we have lots of gas stations that are open 24/7...so u can have food or u can just rest when u want...and we have resting places (tables and chairs...and toilets) side of the roads
i hope this helps a bit
welcome to finland =0) |

This site seems to be ok. I couldn't find any major mistakes.
On the 19th of July 2008, the lowest gasoline price in Finland was 1,479€ and the most expensive was 1,700€. The same for Diesel 1,340€-1,580€.
Unleaded gasoline = lyijytön polttoaine
Diesel = Diesel öljy
In Finland we mainly talk of these as bensa and diesel
Hopefully this was helpful :D |

In winter some of the roads can be very icy so you should be careful how fast you drive! We have to use winter tires on certain months of the year.
And what comes to raindeers, they usually just lay in the middle of the road. Most commonly in groups (only in Lapland). They might not move easily so you just have to be patient (use your horn)!! :D
Drive carefully when you see a warning about elks. They are very big and can be lethal to your car and you. They usually are moving (crossing the streets) from dawn till dusk. On motorways we do have fences bacause of the elks.
One of the most beautiful sceneries here in Finland are our lakes. So you should definately pick a road that goes next to them. Lapland is also very beatufil!
Welcome to Finland :) |
