There is no traditional food. But there are lots of restaurants in capital Bujumbura ; french, indian, chinese, libanese, italian, greek. Main restaurants are : Belvedere (where you can have view of the city), Chez Vaya (greek restaurant) same with the view on the city, Oasis (greek), Shangai (chinese) and La Safran(indian).

Hello. I am going to answer those two questions. It is safe to travel in Burundi, but everytime you have to be careful and not walking alone or at all during nightful. and because of the political troubles that are going on now. and what I can give as advice is to wait till after the elections of 2010 which don't promise any stability in the country.
But, despite that, Burundi is a beautiful. country, small but beautiful. There's many places to visit, beaches, historical sites, clubs, the national museum with a variety of animals and shows in the summer. There is a lot to see that if i start I can't finish.
The other question is to know the traditional food. Burundi has a variety of food and that's because of different people that live there. But, the traditional food is sorghum foufou and milk and and a plant that's called "isogi", it has very strong taste. But, also you can find also a variety of fishes( the well known is mukeke), vegetables, meat( beefs, goat, sheep). do you want to travel to Burundi? You'll have a lot of fun, and I assure you that you won't go back to your country. But, remember do not forget what I have told you! Enjoy BURUNDI. |

Visiting Burundi is good these days because the troubles have settled down. There's a lot of good things to see and a lot to keep you entertained. The best season would be summer. Burundi is more entertained in summer than other seasons. Food is great; we have a variety of restaurants. Please, do not leave without going to the beach or enjoy the stay at the Hotel Club du Lac Tanganyika. |
